Hartford College Primary School is a small private independent school. It is located in the heart of the suburb of Mondeor, in the South of Johannesburg and is surrounded by parkland and the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve. The school’s tranquil, natural location is the inspiration for the school’s ethos, which aims to provide children with a gentle, nurturing environment that will stimulate their natural curiosity.

To ensure that children begin their education with the best possible advantage, Hartford College employ teachers that are a little older and have a wealth of teaching experience. Classes are kept small, so that the teachers can provide more hands-on personal attention to each child.

We follow a CAPS curriculum that is enriched, with extra emphasis placed on mathematics and the sciences. Our standards are high, with 50% being considered a minimum pass rate in each subject. We participate in national bench-marking Olympiads each year. In 2018, our Grade 5 & 7 classes were ranked in to the Top 20 schools in South Africa, in Mathematics and Afrikaans.

Regular outings to the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve helps engender a love of nature as well as being an engaging way of teaching Natural Science.

The school is a member of The Independent Schools Association (ISASA), IEB (Independent Examination Board) and WESSA.
